Loimaa subregion – Finnish countryside at its best

Uusi karttaLoimaa sub-region consists of six lively municipalities and the town of Loimaa. It is located near Turku. The capital of Finland, Helsinki, is located 145 kilometres from Loimaa and the distance between Turku and Loimaa is 66 kilometres.

The spacious Loimaa sub-region has approximately 37 000 inhabitants, 16 inhabitants/km2. Here tourists see beautiful grain fields, countryside life and rustic houses that are well taken care of.

The historical tourist attractions of the region are two old roads: the Ox Road of Häme and Soldier´s Road, wooden churches that were built in the 18th and 19th century, many museums of local history and culture and the Finnish Agricultural Museum Sarka. You can feel the change in the countryside for example when watching e.g. the ostriches.
