Loimaa, the heart of the sub-region, countryside at its very best
The town of Loimaa is a beautiful and vivid centre of the sub-region. In the centre of the town you can find a good selection of speciality shops, a lively market place and all the services that travellers and tourists need. There also flows the river Loimijoki, which enables canoeing and fishing and gives a different ankle for tourists to observe the beauty of the scenery. There is also a possibility to hike on nature trails in the woods, and many farms offer accommodation, dining and shopping facilities.

- Alpo Jaakola Statue Park
Alpo Jaakola Statue Park is located by highway 9. There are many magnificent sculptures and statues made of different materials and buildings that are a result of a long creation process. Together they form a unique entity. In addition to the works of art of Jaakola and exhibitions of guest artists there are also theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events in the summertime.
- Alastaro Circuit
Alastaro Circuit is a versatile motor sports center located by highway 41 in Virttaankangas heath. Alastaro Circuit
has developed into a popular place to spend leisure time and it is a good testing and racing track for all sorts of motor sports. There is a 3 000-meter long asphalt track and a full-length drag strip, as well as Tractor Pulling – JM- and Motocross tracks.
- Polar Ostrich
The ostrich farm Polar-Strutsi has bred ostriches since 1994. The farm is located in Metsämaa and specializes in selling breeders and young birds as well as consulting. The farm also sells ostrich meat, skin, eggs and other products. Tourists are welcome to visit the farm by agreement.
- Kannisto farm
Kannisto farm offers activities for tourists and camp schools around the year. There you can see all the traditional farm animals and some rarer ones like reindeers. Natural field cultivation and early livestock rearing in the traditional style is practiced there.
A 1,5 - kilometer long nature trail leads from Kannisto farm to Leikkilinna Mountain which is the highest place in Alastaro. By the trail you can see a village of Lapp huts, lean-to's (shelters made of wood) and campfire places.
- Kirstin Pirtti
The rustic cabin Kirstin Pirtti is located at an old estate which has been owned by the same family since the year 1623. Kirstin Pirtti offers a place for the visitors to relax and rest in the middle of the everyday hurry. By agreement you can have a cup coffee and home made pastries in the cosy atmosphere. The old estate itself that had the obligation to equip a cavalryman is worth seeing. There is an old homestead museum in the yard. The collection of the museum consists of two storehouses and the objects in them.
